Rapid-fit Multi-Leg Tank at Snarestone WwTW for Severn Trent Water

1800mmØ Three Leg Tank

push-fit joints with integral seals

reduction in footprint and excavation

For this programme sensitive element of a new WwTW for Severn Trent Water, Avove Utilities opted for the tried and tested Aquaspira Tank System to ensure a rapid installation with instantly sealed joints.

Challenge

Following an early review of site logistics and programme for the entire project, it was apparent that the large underground tank needed to be installed immediately and as quickly as possible. Also, due to high groundwater levels, it was essential for the tank to have fully sealed joints at the point of installation, with no requirement for post-installation internal joint welding.

Solution

Taking into account the diameter, depth, and requirement for multiple access turrets, it was an appropriate application for stainless steel manifolds, fitted with matching Socket & Spigot joints including factory fitted seals. With the manifold in position, and with the aid of our innovative Jointing Frame, the site team were able to place and push-fit the pipes home in record time. Once backfilled, the team turned off the dewatering equipment with complete confidence that the tank was watertight.

Outcome

The tank installation was completed ahead of the ambitious programme, and critically, the area was made available for other phases of the project to commence in good time. The system also enhanced Carbon Reduction and Safety KPI’s for the project.

Testimonial

“Great work accomplished by the Draper Civil Engineering site team for our client Avove Utilities on this Severn Trent project. The Aquaspira pipe nest went in like a dream, in record time to a high standard.” Dean Allen – Site Manager
